In 2011 our President H.E. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan made a historic visit to Mogadishu with his family members to demonstrate the solidarity of Turkey with the people of Somalia and raise awareness among the international community for the most severe drought disaster that Somalia had faced in the last century. The said visit is one of the most important events in the recent history of Somalia and opened a new page in the centuries old brotherly relations between Turkey and Somalia. The activities of humanitarian assistance that started just after the visit, which echoed in the hearts of our Somali brothers and sisters, by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkey, Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA), the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD), Turkish Red Crescent, Turkish Ministry of Health, the municipalities, other public agencies as well as various Turkish NGOs have generated dramatic results in a very short time; a success story which is a textbook example of the humanitarian diplomacy that Turkey has been advocating during the last decades.
During my tenure it will be the priority of me and my team to further enhance brotherly relations and boost cooperation between Somalia and Turkey as well as to support the endeavors of Somalia to stand on its own feet. The Embassy will continue to provide its utmost support to the development cooperation activities of TİKA, Institute of Yunus Emre, Maarif Foundation, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan Hospital, TURKSOM, the police, Turkish NGOs and to the undertakings of the Turkish private sector.
I assure that the foremost task of the Embassy is to serve for the Turkish citizens and that we are accessible 24/7 through social media and any other means.
